Softball Recap: Rodriguez Find Success

While Rodriguez's win against River City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Raiders 6-5. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Angelique Boot was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boot was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Boot wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rodriguez hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River City struck out nine times.

Rodriguez now has a winning record of 10-9. As for River City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rodriguez will venture away from home to square off against Sacramento at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Mustangs have three straight wins, the Dragons have 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for River City, they are taking a road trip to face off against Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
