Recap: Newberry Panthers vs. Hilliard Red Flashes
The Newberry Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 50-30 margin over Hilliard. The win was nothing new for Newberry as they're now sitting on four straight.
Newberry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Beaulieu led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight steals and seven assists. The game was Beaulieu's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandy Whitfield, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Newberry is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Hilliard, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberry will take on Trenton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hilliard, they will head out on the road to face off against Fernandina Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fernandina Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
