Softball Game Preview: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. Hemet Bulldogs

The Segerstrom Jaguars will face off against the Hemet Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Segerstrom is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Segerstrom is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mayfair 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since March 29th.

Alyssa Razo spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaden Fraser was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Victoria Elizalde, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Segerstrom lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hemet had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Woodrow Wilson on Thursday.

Segerstrom's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-13. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hemet, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.

Segerstrom couldn't quite finish off Hemet in their previous meeting back in June of 2021 and fell 3-1. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
