Baseball Game Preview: Hammond Tornadoes vs. Ponchatoula Green Wave

For the second straight game, Hammond will face off against Ponchatoula. The Tornadoes will host the Green Wave at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Hammond fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ponchatoula on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 2-1. The Tornadoes have struggled against the Green Wave recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Hammond saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Hoover, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ponchatoula pushed their record up to 19-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hammond, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-23.
