Lafayette Jefferson had won four straight games and Maya Layton did her part to make it five on Friday. The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos were the clear victor by a 50-26 margin over the Marion Giants thanks in part to Layton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Marion lost, don't look at Nyomi Hahn. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine blocks.

Lafayette Jefferson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Marion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.

Lafayette Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-60 defeat against Richmond on the 25th. As for Marion, they will face off against Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
