Basketball Recap: Abraham Lincoln Takes a Loss

Abraham Lincoln lost against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters fell 72-60 to Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech.

Despite the defeat, Abraham Lincoln saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jayden Ortiz-Muhammad posted 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ortiz-Muhammad has scored all season. Rafi Sabree was another key player, putting up ten points.

Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarrell Little, who went 7 for 16 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The contest was Little's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hasan Laws, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Abraham Lincoln has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-9.

Abraham Lincoln is taking a road trip to challenge Audenried at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Audenried has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, they will head out to face off against Constitution at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
