Football Game Preview: Birdville Hawks vs. Fossil Ridge Panthers + How To Watch

The Birdville Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Fossil Ridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Birdville has given up an average of 32.9 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Birdville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-27 to Brewer.

Despite their defeat, Birdville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Triston Spain, who picked up 86 receiving yards and three TDs, was perhaps the best of all. The Hawks also got a significant boost from Christian Kargbo, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.

Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 45-27 fall against Brewer. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Bears are ranked 171st).

Birdville will have to contain Benjamin Riley as he made an impact in Fossil Ridge's last game. He picked up 233 receiving yards and one touchdown. Riley really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaki Lockhart, who threw for 408 yards and a pair of TDs.

Birdville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Fossil Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Birdville couldn't quite get it done against Fossil Ridge in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 44-31. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
