Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Loss

Jacksonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They came up short against the Normal University Pioneers, falling 41-16. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crimsons of the 50-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Jacksonville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Normal University, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-14.

Jacksonville and Normal University could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Jacksonville (ranked 587th) will meet Bloomington (ranked 123rd) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Normal University will take on Mahomet-Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 255 places (373 vs. 118).
