Basketball Preview: Briarfield Academy Rebels vs. Central School Pioneers

Briarfield Academy has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Central School Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Briarfield Academy's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so the Pioneers' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Briarfield Academy made off with a 41-40 win over the Rebels.

Meanwhile, Central School scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 40-5 victory over Northeast Baptist. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for Central School this season.

Central School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lola Doyal out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Amanda Seekford was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Briarfield Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Central School's record is now 3-16.

Everything came up roses for Briarfield Academy against the Pioneers when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 51-9 win. With Briarfield Academy ahead 32-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
