Basketball Game Preview: Spackenkill Spartans vs. Marlboro Central Dukes

The Spackenkill Spartans will head out to take on the Marlboro Central Dukes at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Spackenkill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Marlboro Central likes a good challenge.

Spackenkill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They beat Rhinebeck by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 70-57.

Meanwhile, Marlboro Central was fully in charge last Tuesday, breezing past Pine Plains 73-40. Given the Dukes' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th in New York, while the Bombers are ranked 865th in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marlboro Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. The win got Spackenkill back to even at 10-10.

Spackenkill came up short against Marlboro Central in their previous meeting on February 7th, falling 65-54. Can Spackenkill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
