Baseball Game Preview: South Lenoir Blue Devils vs. Midway Raiders

For the second straight game, South Lenoir will face off against Midway. The Blue Devils will host the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Lenoir 3.6, Midway 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South Lenoir is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Midway 9-8.

For Midway's part, they got a good showing from Cameron Register, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Register has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carson Tew and Wyatt Scott stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tew went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, while Scott went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

South Lenoir pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Midway, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-8.
