Softball Game Preview: Oneida Indians vs. McCreary Central Raiders

The Oneida Indians will venture away from home to square off against the McCreary Central Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Oneida is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Oneida lost 10-4 to Coalfield on Thursday.

Ashlyn Cotton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, McCreary Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to Berea. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly three runs.

Ava Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Kahlei Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases. Addison Tucker also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

McCreary Central now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Oneida, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Oneida came out on top in a nail-biter against McCreary Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
