Basketball Recap: Bellevue West Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If Lincoln Southwest wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bellevue West, they should've done a better job of containing Vanna Reitsma. The Bellevue West Thunderbirds walked away with a 63-52 win over the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks on Tuesday thanks to Reitsma, who went 8-for-12 on her way to 18 points and four steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Stevie Harley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Despite the loss, Lincoln Southwest still got an impressive performance from Eleanor Griffin, who posted 15 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Griffin has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Gutknecht, who scored nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Bellevue West and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Lincoln Southwest, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-6.

Coming up, Bellevue West and Bellevue East will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bellevue East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will head out on the road to challenge Omaha North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Southwest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
