Basketball Game Preview: Des Moines East Scarlets vs. Urbandale J-Hawks

Des Moines East hasn't had much luck against Urbandale recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Des Moines East Scarlets will face off against the Urbandale J-Hawks at 6:15 p.m.

Des Moines East lost 75-49 to Indianola on Tuesday. The Scarlets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Urbandale waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 62-61 W against the Hawks.

Urbandale's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Des Moines East, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Des Moines East was dealt a bruising 83-42 defeat at the hands of Urbandale in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Des Moines East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
