Skyline is 2-8 against Blackfoot since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. Skyline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Skyline didn't have quite enough to beat Hillcrest and fell 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Grizzlies have lost by just one run.
Brylee Scott and Dixee O'Haver did some serious damage despite the final result: Scott went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while O'Haver went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Scott has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Blackfoot hadn't done well against Idaho Falls recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Broncos blew past the Tigers 9-2. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kylee Pratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Blackfoot let Brianna Reynolds and Sela Christiansen run wild. Reynolds went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Christiansen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Staley, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Blackfoot lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.
This is the second loss in a row for Skyline and nudges their season record down to 10-7-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Blackfoot, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Skyline has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Blackfoot struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
