Baseball Recap: St. Michael's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

St. Michael dropped their record down to 9-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 17-12 to the Sandia Prep Sundevils. The Horsemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sundevils earlier this season, when they won 9-0.

Santiago Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. St. Michael's is 5-1 when Martinez posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Luca Martini was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Sandia Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Sandia Prep's side, Logan Lemons was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those eight RBI gave Lemons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hardcastle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs.

St. Michael's wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-9 win against Portales on the 5th. As for Sandia Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 defeat against Cobre on the 5th.
