Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Maryland Christian Academy). Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 83-35 stomp they got against Salisbury Christian. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Purvis, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Zyere Thompson, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points along with six assists and six boards.

Purvis wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Southern Maryland Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Salisbury Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy and New Hope Academy National will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. New Hope Academy National knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Southern Maryland Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Salisbury Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chincoteague at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
