Softball Recap: Wickliffe Takes a Loss

Wickliffe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Berkshire Badgers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Badgers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 last Saturday.

Amanda Peklay made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Audrey Musgrave was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Wickliffe's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Berkshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Wickliffe will welcome Rootstown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rovers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Berkshire has already played their next matchup (against Chagrin Falls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
