Softball Game Preview: Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons vs. San Marin Mustangs

Archie Williams hasn't had much luck against San Marin recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Archie Williams will host San Marin at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Archie Williams gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Terra Linda as Archie Williams made off with a 15-2 victory. The Peregrine Falcons haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Archie Williams' victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Singer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Singer a new career-high in doubles (two). Another was Avery Rose, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Archie Williams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Marin). They never let Redwood get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Taylor Testa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Savannah Reynolds was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Arianna Mendoza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Archie Williams' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for San Marin, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
