Baseball Recap: Cedar Cliff Has No Trouble Against Altoona

Cedar Cliff had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Altoona on Tuesday. The Colts put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Luke Sowers made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Secrest, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Anastasi, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Cedar Cliff's record now sits at 6-2. As for Altoona, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Cedar Cliff didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Mechanicsburg on the 17th. As for Altoona, they have also already played their next match, a 9-8 loss against State College on the 17th.
