League recap: Tyson overpowering for Highland in past week

Southeast Yosemite league recap: 3/27/13

Hays Tyson was the best pitcher in Southeast Yosemite this week, leading Highland. He picked up one win and 11 strikeouts.

Top honors in the league this week go to Garces, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Rams beat Clovis East 6-1, Laguna Creek 3-0 and Porterville 10-0.

Tehachapi's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories.

Highland scored 40 runs this week to lead the league, but East Bakersfield is tops in runs scored this year, with 120.

There were eight hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Trey Davidson, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.

Highland's Cole Frayne led the league with eight hits this week. His 19 hits for the year are third in the league, and he boasts a .432 batting average.



Garces' Matt Strosnider struck out nine the Cardinals hitters en route to a 3-0 victory on March 26. He gave up seven hits and zero runs over seven innings of work.

The Rams' Tristan Hammans threw five shutout innings in a 10-0 win over the Panthers on Monday. He struck out three, allowing two hits.
