Soccer Game Preview: Foothill vs. El Dorado

The Foothill Knights will challenge the El Dorado Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Foothill gave up the first goal last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a goal and slipped past Yorba Linda 3-2. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Mustangs are ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Matthew Mendoza and Jacob Garcia scored all three of Foothill's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, El Dorado's and Yorba Linda's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but El Dorado turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. El Dorado never let Yorba Linda onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Hawks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Foothill's win bumped their record up to 12-6-3. As for El Dorado, they now have a winning record of 8-7-3.

Foothill skirted past El Dorado 1-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will Foothill repeat their success, or does El Dorado have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
