Softball Recap: Jack Britt Takes a Loss

Jack Britt fell victim to Cape Fear and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to the Colts. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Jack Britt's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Cape Fear, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

After both having extra time off, Jack Britt and Gray's Creek will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season. As for Cape Fear, they will face off against Hoggard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colts 3.2, the Vikings 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
