Softball Recap: Mansfield Timberview's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Mansfield Timberview dropped their record down to 10-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Centennial Spartans, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

As for Centennial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

For Centennial's part, Alyssa Mayner made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Mayner has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Madelyn Hickey, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI Hickey has posted since back in February. Madison Haynes was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Mansfield Timberview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centennial, they will head out to face off against Midlothian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
