GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio - After three lead changes,
Garfield (Garrettsville, Ohio) took the lead for good when
Chase Chapman threw a touchdown with 7:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Streetsboro (Ohio) 31-28 on Saturday.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown pass by
Dakari Carter, the Rockets went into halftime with a 21-17 lead. The G-Men took the lead for good with a touchdown pass by Chapman in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Garfield still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But eight points in the fourth helped GHS pull out the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Garrettsville school, which was coming off a 42-6 defeat at the hands of Mogadore in its previous game. The loss was the fourth in a row for Streetsboro.
In a Portage Trail - County game next week Garfield (5-4) takes on Woodridge, and Streetsboro (4-5) will go up against Waterloo also in a Portage Trail - County game.
