With a playoff win on the line, Venice rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Olympia Titans as they made off with an 18-3 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Kasen Poplin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, August Backman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Dunn, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Venice hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Venice has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Olympia, they dropped their record down to 11-17 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Venice will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
