Baseball Recap: Oak Forest's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

It was a good run, but Oak Forest unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Manteno Panthers by a score of 10-9.

Oak Forest got a good showing from Brayden Smith, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gage Tokarz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Gibbs, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Oak Forest's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1. As for Manteno, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Coming up, Oak Forest will head out to square off against Evergreen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manteno, they will challenge Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
