Baseball Recap: Klein Victorious

While Klein put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Tomball Memorial. The Bearkats won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearkats.

Not much got past Ashton Hughes, who gave up just four hits to keep Tomball Memorial off the board. Hughes also tossed a walk, which is notable because Klein is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-15-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Klein saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Stansifer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Those two hits gave Stansifer a new career-high. Nicholas McCormack also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Klein's victory bumped their record up to 9-16-2. As for Tomball Memorial, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-16-1.

Looking ahead, Klein will challenge Spring at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Tomball Memorial, they will face off against Klein Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
