Soccer Game Preview: Brunswick vs. South Effingham

Brunswick hasn't had much luck against South Effingham recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Brunswick Pirates will take on the South Effingham Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Brunswick is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Brunswick who was credited with the victory on Friday. Brunswick got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Union Grove's one. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

If South Effingham beats Brunswick with four goals on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. South Effingham won by a goal and slipped past Effingham County 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

South Effingham's record now sits at 5-3. As for Brunswick, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Brunswick suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to South Effingham when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Brunswick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
