Basketball Game Preview: Gregori Jaguars vs. El Capitan Gauchos

The Gregori Jaguars are taking a road trip to face off against the El Capitan Gauchos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gregori knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully El Capitan likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, everything went Gregori's way against Bradshaw Christian as Gregori made off with a 76-51 victory. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the The Pride are ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, El Capitan ended up a good deal behind Ripon on Friday and lost 64-49. The Gauchos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gregori will have to contain Elias Ruiz as he made an impact in El Capitan's last game. He posted 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Centeno, who had 12 points and three steals.

Gregori's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for El Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Gregori came up short against El Capitan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 50-44. Can Gregori avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
