Softball Recap: Chicago Hope Academy Victorious

Chicago Hope Academy let Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park stack six runs on them in the fourth inning on Thursday but luckily Chicago Hope Academy prevailed anyway. Chicago Hope Academy walked away with a 12-8 win over Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park. Chicago Hope Academy has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park, too.

Andi Medina and Lina Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Medina struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wilson struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Medina has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Medina went 2-for-4 with two triples and five RBI, while Wilson went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles Wilson has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lynette Ortega, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

Chicago Hope Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Chicago Hope Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-4.
