Volleyball Recap: Maren Mccardel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plano over Plano East

If Plano was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of McKinney Boyd on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Plano East Panthers on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since October 22, 2024.

Plano was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Plano East work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 27-25.

Plano's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maren McCardel, who had 13 assists and ten digs. McCardel has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more assists the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Savannah Osborn, who had four digs and two aces.

Plano's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Plano East, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Plano wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Rock Hill on the 23rd. As for Plano East, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against McKinney on the 23rd.
