Softball Game Preview: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Yorktown Tigers

Wes-Del is 0-7-1 against Yorktown since May of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Wes-Del is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Wes-Del's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Knightstown on Thursday.

Wes-Del saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailee West, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Yorktown unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Shenandoah by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since May 28, 2024.

Abbey Booher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Olivia Jaromin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Wes-Del, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wes-Del has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
