Softball Recap: Chaminade Eagles vs. Mira Costa Mustangs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chaminade had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Mira Costa Mustangs. The victory was familiar territory for Chaminade who now have four in a row.

Alyssa Jemio made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Jemio has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Jemio was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

In other batting news, Sydney Hogue was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mia Colarossi, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Chaminade pushed their record up to 16-12 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Mira Costa, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13-1.

Chaminade will challenge JW North at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games JW North has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Mira Costa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
