Hughesville entered their tilt with Southern Columbia Area on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 7-3. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Ella Breneisen made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlynn Barlett, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Smith, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Hughesville pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Columbia Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
