Volleyball Recap: Braylen Rudnick Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Knightstown

There's no place like home for Union County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Knightstown Panthers on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

One reason for the win was Union County's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.

Union County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylen Rudnick, who had nine digs and one assist.

Union County was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Knightstown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaycie Cole, who had four digs and three aces, and Ary Guzman, who had 11 digs and two aces. Guzman is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Union County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Knightstown, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Union County has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on the 23rd. As for Knightstown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Winchester Community on the 25th.
