Softball Game Preview: Washburn Beavers vs. Central Aroostook Panthers

The Washburn Beavers will venture away from home to take on the Central Aroostook Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Washburn's offense. They came up short against Katahdin on Wednesday, falling 15-0. The Beavers have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Central Aroostook suffered their biggest loss since June 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 17-7 to Ashland. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Panthers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Washburn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Central Aroostook, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Washburn might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Central Aroostook when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
