Baseball Recap: Piedmont Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Piedmont entered their tilt with Encinal on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Jets by a score of 8-5. That's two games straight that the Highlanders have won by exactly three runs.

Piedmont got a great performance from Massimo Mittone as he tossed five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Mittone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Parker and Markos Lagios did most of the damage at the plate: Parker scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Lagios scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Lagios has posted since back in April of 2024. William Ferreira was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Piedmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Piedmont's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Encinal, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Piedmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against Encinal: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
