Baseball Game Preview: Weiser Wolverines vs. Payette Pirates

For the first time this season, Weiser will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They will take on the Payette Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Weiser is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Sugar-Salem on Saturday. They lost 12-1 to the Diggers.

Meanwhile, Payette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Sugar-Salem, falling 14-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Jahzyon Sylva made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Sylva is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Payette's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Weiser, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Weiser couldn't quite get it done against Payette when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Weiser avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
