Baseball Recap: Aurora Christian Comes Up Short

Aurora Christian lost against Bishop McNamara back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Fightin' Irish by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Zach Zappia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Aurora Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Morel, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Aurora Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Bishop McNamara, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

While Aurora Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
