Basketball Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Cleveland Cavaliers and fell 80-27. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1195th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 124th).

Despite the loss, Monroe still got an impressive performance from Vincent Rosales, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Chris Gutierrez, who scored five points and eight boards.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Cleveland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Monroe has already played their next matchup, an 85-32 loss against Poly on the 12th. As for Cleveland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-47 victory against Granada Hills Charter on the 14th.
