Basketball Game Preview: Maeser Prep Academy Lions vs. American Heritage Patriots

Maeser Prep Academy hasn't had much luck against American Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Maeser Prep Academy Lions will square off against the American Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Maeser Prep Academy came up short against St. Joseph and fell 57-46. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lillian Nolan, who went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Vivianny Sarmiento was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, American Heritage didn't have quite enough to beat St. Joseph on Thursday and fell 49-46.

American Heritage's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-6. As for Maeser Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Maeser Prep Academy ended up a good deal behind American Heritage in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 62-43. Can Maeser Prep Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
