Baseball Recap: Lutheran Gets the Win

Lutheran took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Oakland Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Lancers 8-7. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 16-0 victory the Lancers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Bobby Haworth was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Haworth was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Baltz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Lutheran's record now sits at 5-2. As for Oakland Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Lutheran will have a chance to go back-to-back against Oakland Christian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
