Baseball Recap: Western Find Success

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Western and Eldorado had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Warriors skirted past the Sundevils 5-3. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly two runs.

River Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Western: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cade Quintana, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Christian Romo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Western's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Eldorado, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Western wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-0 loss against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 13th. As for Eldorado, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-1 victory against Desert Pines on the 14th.
