Softball Recap: Fresno Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hoover, Fresno was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Torres Toros 12-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Marissa Delgadillo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Susan Dominguez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylee Sanchez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Fresno is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-11-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Torres, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fresno will challenge rival Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Torres is set to face off against their familiar foe Madera South at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
