Volleyball Game Preview: Lathrop Spartans vs. Downey Knights

The Lathrop Spartans will face off against the Downey Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Downey will be up against a hot Lathrop team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Spartans put the hurt on Central Valley with a sharp 3-0 victory on Friday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-12, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Downey got the win against Modesto on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Downey was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-20, 25-17.

Downey pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Lathrop, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.

Lathrop beat Downey 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
