Basketball Recap: Acalanes Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Acalanes hadn't done well against Northgate recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Acalanes Dons put the hurt on the Northgate Broncos with a sharp 60-40 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Dons just coasted through the last quarter.

Despite the loss, Northgate still got an impressive performance from Deangelo Smith, who went 7 for 17 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Boustead, who posted six points and four steals.

Acalanes is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Northgate, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.

Acalanes and Northgate should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Acalanes will take on Marin Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday up 167 places (150 vs. 317). Acalanes will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Similarly, Northgate (ranked 169th) will meet College Park (ranked 404th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
