Basketball Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Wakefield Wolverines

The Athens Drive Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Wakefield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Athens Drive, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Athens Drive took on East Chapel Hill on Thursday. Athens Drive walked away with a 46-36 win over East Chapel Hill. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Marcus Green was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 9 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Crumpton, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Athens Drive smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Wakefield played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 75-34 loss at the hands of Independence. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-20.

Athens Drive's record now sits at 4-5. As for Wakefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Athens Drive came up short against Wakefield in their previous meeting back in January, falling 61-55. Can Athens Drive avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
