Baseball Game Preview: Bakersfield Christian Eagles vs. Clovis Cougars

The Bakersfield Christian Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Clovis Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

If Bakersfield Christian beats Clovis with four runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Bakersfield Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Hanford on Saturday, sneaking past 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The team relied heavily on Deakin Brinkley, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Karson Greer, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Clovis posted their closest victory since April 23, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Oakdale 5-4.

Clovis' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Caballero, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Bakersfield Christian picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3-1. As for Clovis, their record is now 4-2.
