Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Indians vs. Oakley Plainsmen

The St. Francis Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Oakley Plainsmen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Francis has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Oakley will arrive with ten straight wins.

St. Francis is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Rawlins County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. St. Francis was dealt a 60-31 defeat at the hands of Rawlins County. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Oakley really took it to Hill City for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-10 victory. The Plainsmen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Oakley's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

St. Francis came up short against Oakley when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 65-53. Can St. Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
